How to become a Breastfeeding Peer Support Volunteer

‘Great course, great staff, great venue!  I can’t wait to start making a contribution and support other mums’

It’s all very well to be told that ‘breast is best’ but sometimes mothers need support and advice to succeed in breastfeeding.  That’s why the peer support team and volunteer training is invaluable for our community.’

Breastfeeding is a natural thing that most mothers can do.

However, that doesn’t mean it’s easy. That’s why, in Newcastle, we have a group of Breastfeeding Peer Supporters, who are a network of breastfeeding mothers who have received additional training to provide support and guidance.

If you’ve some time to spare and would like to become a Breastfeeding Peer Support volunteer and make a real difference in your community then please complete the form below.

You’ll attend a 10 week course, covering all aspects of the importance of breastfeeding, how to support women to breastfeed successfully and how to overcome common issues.  You’ll also complete a mandatory session for Newcastle Safeguarding Children Board and be invited along to a graduation celebration.

We look forward to seeing the volunteers out and about in their local community very soon.
