Food hygiene course Level 2 RSPH

This course is aimed at anyone working in catering or hospitality whether employed or self-employed, working in restaurants, hotels, fast food outlets, takeaways, cafes, bars, kitchens, catering in hospitals, schools and colleges. It allows every catering business to provide staff with first class training at a fraction of the cost and disruption of classroom based training

Learners will sit a multiple choice test paper and on successful completion, will receive a Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Accredited Level 2 Certificate in Food Safety and Hygiene meeting the legal training required, which must then be applied to work situations.

The training and test usually take 6 hours face-to-face group training. Learners are required to achieve a 75% pass mark.

On completion of this course learners should understand:

  • Why food hygiene and safety is important
  • Their personal and legal responsibilities
  • The impact of food borne illness
  • How food becomes contaminated
  • How to prevent contamination through good hygiene practices
  • How to control contamination through safe temperatures and storage
  • How to control food safety hazards at critical control points using an HACCP based Food Safety Management System


RSPH Level 1 Awards in Food Safety

The  CIEH Level 1 awards in food safety are run as half-day courses, suitable for a variety of candidates, including new employees with minimal or no prior food safety knowledge, employees handling low-risk or wrapped food or those who work front of house, such as waiting or check out staff, as well as back of house such as kitchen porters or warehouse staff.

Course outline:

  • Food Safety (food hygiene, hazards, responsibilities)
  • Personal Hygiene
  • Cleaning
  • Contamination

The Level 1 awards in Food Safety are sector specific and the training programme has been developed to allow courses to be tailored to meet the needs of staff working in catering, manufacturing or retail environments.

Minimum 3 hours, half day course. Please note that both food hygiene course can be delivered flexibly to suit your group needs.

At the end of the session, the clients will take a 15 multiple choice question examination
