Sarah Cowling, more about her

Coming from a nursing background Sarah moved into community health in 1993, piloting an exercise on referral scheme for Tynedale Council in Northumberland.

Sarah Cowling Chief Executive

Sarah moved to Newcastle in 2005 to manage the new Lemington Centre and engaged a wide range of services to work from the centre, making it the busy hub it is today.

As a mother of four Sarah is a keen proponent of the SureStart programme. Lemington was designated as a Children’s Centre in 2006 and the Health Resource Centre became the information hub for the West Riverside Sure Start in the inner west in 2010.

The opportunity to head up the HealthWORKS team came up in 2008. Passionate about people being in charge of their own health, Sarah promotes health literacy for all.

The Community Health Trainer team is part of this approach along with the volunteer Health Champion programme now running across the east and west of Newcastle.
