Local Voluntary Sector Trustee Posts at Healthworks Newcastle

HealthWORKS Newcastle is a charity created to address the inequalities in health between those who live in areas of deprivation in the city and those who live in the more affluent parts. In the twenty years since we were established we have grown to provide a city wide service that connects people with local services and supports them to achieve healthier lifestyles for themselves and their families.
Based on a non- medical, peer to peer approach, we train local people who excel at communicating health messages and working in partnership with people to achieve change. In 2014/15 we worked with over 17,000 new individuals, alongside those individuals engaged before March 2014. Our turnover is £1.5 million and we have 83 staff.

We are seeking to recruit new trustees to join our Board. We are looking for people happy to adopt the role of support and challenge; people with strategic vision, independent judgment and a willingness to give time and commitment to being a trustee.

We are particularly looking for someone with qualifications in, and experience of: Financial management and accounting – IT and social media – Data analysis and organisational performance management – Legal expertise.

You must able to attend six board meetings per year (08.30-10.00), plus an annual half-day planning session, and be willing to attend meetings for any working groups that you choose to join.

The posts are unpaid but will provide you with a great deal of experience and satisfaction. All reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. We would welcome applications from all sections of the rich and diverse communities represented in Newcastle, including from those who have a disability.

For further details and an application pack, please contact us at the Health Resource Centre, Adelaide Terrace, Benwell, Newcastle Upon Tyne NE4 8BE. Tel 0191 272 4244 or email Kerry.peck@hwn.org.uk
