Community Healthy Life Simulation events in Fenham and Wingrove

Healthy Life Simulation Information sheets 2015

Did you know there could be an 11 year gap in how long you or a family member could live if you develop an avoidable long term health condition such as Diabetes type 2, COPD, Heart disease, Obesity, to name a few, by the time you’re 55 years old?

Depending on which ward in the city that you live in , just a short distance away on public transport, this could be a reality – do you think that’s right or fair?

We’re offering people who live in either the Fenham and Wingrove wards a unique opportunity to use local knowledge of their areas, to share thoughts and ideas and collectively come up with some real solutions that might work to help reduce this gap.

You’re guided through a ‘game’ based on real health information and there are no wrong answers!
You don’t need to know anything particular about health or have a health condition , just knowledge about the area you live in.

We’ll make a note of your comments and put together ‘Charters for Wingrove and Fenham Health and Wellbeing’. We’ve even got a small amount of money to look at some of the ideas that may come up from the day.

We’re running a one day activity in local community centres 9.15am -3.15pm including lunch. We can also support childcare and transport costs you may require to take part.

Wingrove event on Wednesday 14 October at the Nunsmoor Centre, Studley Terrace.

Fenham event on Thursday 15 October at the FAR Centre, Acanthus Avenue.

Booking is essential as we’ve only 16 places available in each ward.

If you’d like to take part in something different, that’s not been tried in your ward before, then contact Barbara Cage at Healthworks Newcastle on 0191 272 4244 or email barbara.cage@hwn.org.uk

These one day events are supported via Newcastle City Council’s Health and Wellbeing fund.
