Our Volunteers are an incredibly important part of what we do, many have used our services previously and found the support invaluable and so they have wanted to offer support to other women too.
We have some great volunteering opportunities for the right people to get involved in supporting our work.
Here’s Rosie our Volunteer Co-ordinator to tell you a little bit more about the opportunities we offer and how to get involved.
Our trained Breastfeeding Peer Support and Antenatal Support volunteers really do play a vital role in the work of our Amazing Start team and enable us to reach and offer support to many many families in Newcastle.
Many have used our services previously and found the support invaluable and so they have wanted to offer support to other women too.
To hear from some our amazing volunteers, we have a “Meet some of our volunteers” playlist on You Tube where our volunteers share their own personal experiences of volunteering with Healthworks and why they decided to get involved. If you are interested in getting involved we are currently accepting applications.
Breastfeeding Peer Support Volunteers are parents who have breastfed (or are breastfeeding) and who have a positive attitude towards breastfeeding. They promote breastfeeding in a friendly and sensitive manner and the role includes supporting our Breastfeeding Co-ordinators work at events and group sessions.
Our Antenatal Support Volunteers promote good attitudes to pregnancy and parenting in a friendly and sensitive manner. They volunteer alongside the Amazing Start Peer Support team and health professionals and the role includes helping to create a welcoming and friendly environment in different settings and welcome new and existing mothers and their families.
