Volunteer
Our Volunteers are an incredibly important part of what we do, many have used our services previously and found the support invaluable and so they have wanted to offer support to other families too
We have some great volunteering opportunities for the right people to get involved in supporting our work.
Our trained Best Start volunteers really do play a vital role in the work of our Best Start team and enable us to reach and offer support to many many families in Newcastle.
Many have used our services previously and found the support invaluable and so they have wanted to offer support to other women too.
To hear from some our amazing volunteers, we have a “Meet some of our volunteers” playlist on You Tube where our volunteers share their own personal experiences of volunteering with Healthworks and why they decided to get involved. If you are interested in getting involved we are currently accepting applications.
Best Start volunteer opportunities
Meet Sarah, our Volunteer Co-ordinator, who is going to tell you more about the volunteering opportunities we offer:
Best Start Volunteers are parents who have breastfed (or are breastfeeding) and who have a positive attitude towards breastfeeding. They promote breastfeeding in a friendly and sensitive manner and support our Best Start team to provide services to breastfeeding women and their families. This includes one to one support and attending our breastfeeding social groups.
Best Start volunteers also promote good attitudes to pregnancy and parenting in a friendly and sensitive manner. They volunteer alongside the Best Start team and health professionals and the role includes helping to create a welcoming and friendly environment in different settings and welcome new and existing mothers and their families.
For more information please contact Sarah on 07826531575, by completing the form below or via the Breastfeeding Mams Newcastle Facebook page
Successful applicants will receive a free 12 week training course to prepare them for their role within the Best Start team. Details of the roles are available by clicking the links at the bottom of the page and you can also find out more about our Pregnancy and Breastfeeding Services here .
