Working effectively with others (members, users, private and public sector partners etc); willingness to share ‘best practice’ and to learn from others

Impact award ceremonyHealthWORKS Newcastle is represented at many meetings across the city on subjects relating to health in the broadest sense. We also participate in Task and Finish groups to help the development of best practice and knowledge sharing across sectors.
Our commitment to the concept of integrated partnership work can be evidenced by the recent Ofsted report for Lemington Children’s Centre which awarded us ‘Outstanding in all areas’ , with an especial mention of the effective partnership work involved .
Following a visit by an Associate of The Young Foundation we were invited to participate in planning a community development approach to a GP Health Centre project, sited in a pocket of deprivation in the affluent Borough of Kingston Upon Thames. We have contributed to the Social Inclusion Unit work (before the change of government) and were used as a case study for NICE Guidance on Whole Systems Approaches to Obesity. HWN took the lead on organizing a city wide week of action and activities for the ‘Time To Get Moving’ week (Nov 2010) focusing on mental health and stigma. This galvanized differing agencies to get on board and all are keen to repeat this work in 2011.

Partnership work also increase our appreciation of the range of work that partners do and helps us ensure that we co-ordinate our efforts better to avoid duplication and improve outcomes.
